IT’S TIME FOR A BIT OF HISTORY
The Maywood Housing Authority (MHA) was created in October 1946, by a Resolution under the Village of Maywood. In January 1976, the Board called the very first meeting for the organization of business and adopted the Original By-Laws.
Leasing of the initial Section-8 Certificates came in the year of 1977. Since that time the Voucher Program was adopted, and now the two programs has emerged into the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
FUNCTIONS OF MHA
MHA is currently allocated for a total of 449 vouchers under the Housing Choice Voucher Program; MHA is currently leased utilizing 368 vouchers in the Maywood area. Our most recent waiting list holds an approximate two year waiting period for families to receive assistance.
Although, we currently are not accepting applications for the program. Families are always encouraged to stay in touch to find out about upcoming information that we might have regarding housing opportunities.
